203-222-3123 byoung@levettrockwood.com Barbara is a commercial and transactional lawyer, representing and counseling business clients in all facets of their business. Her practice includes acquisitions and divestitures, securities law (for both public and private companies), business formation and structuring, financings, commercial contracts, licensing, and general corporate counseling. She represents a diverse group of clients, ranging from sophisticated start-ups to seasoned companies, including a privately held, leading software developer, an AMEX-listed geophysical-equipment manufacturer, an international chemical company, a textile manufacturer, and various service companies. Representative matters that she has handled include the acquisition of a marine seismic-equipment manufacturer, ongoing '33 and '34 Act compliance for an AMEX-listed company, various software license agreements making technologies available to major redistributors such as Microsoft, Palm and Sony, and the formation of a chlor alkali joint venture between two NYSE-listed companies. She has also served as outside "in-house" counsel for certain client businesses, either on a interim or continuing basis. Prior to joining Levett Rockwood in 1986, Barbara was in house Corporate Counsel with The Daseke Group, Inc. In addition to advising Daseke on corporate matters, she represented the company in various financing transactions and private placements by the company. She began her legal career as a corporate and financial transaction associate at the law firm of Miles & Stockbridge in Baltimore. After moving back to Connecticut in 1981, she practiced corporate law at Cummings & Lockwood in Stamford. Barbara received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1980, and graduated (cum laude) from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota in 1976. Levett Rockwood's Managing Shareholder since 1999, Barbara resides in Southport, Connecticut where she is active with several community associations, including as a trustee of the Pequot Library Association and as President of the Sasquanaug Association for Southport Improvement, Inc.
