Brian practices in the area of government investigations, white-collar defense and regulatory enforcement. His practice also includes commercial litigation, employment law, securities litigation and internal investigations. He has significant grand jury, trial and appellate experience in both federal and state courts.

In representing his clients, Brian draws on more than six years of experience as an Assistant United States Attorney in Connecticut, during which time he prosecuted a wide range of complex matters including corporate fraud, money laundering, racketeering, public corruption, tax and environmental law offenses. As head of the environmental enforcement unit for the District of Connecticut, Brian was lead prosecutor in a case against Tyco International that resulted in one of New England's largest fines in an environmental crimes case.

Following his work as a federal prosecutor, Brian served as Senior Counsel to an independent United Nations investigative committee chaired by former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker. In this role, Brian led a team of investigators focusing on the activities of a number of United Nations officials, including Secretary-General Kofi Annan, in connection with the Iraqi Oil-for-Food Program, a humanitarian relief effort through which Saddam Hussein committed a multi-billion dollar financial fraud.

In 2008, Brian served as counsel to the Independent Investigative Review Panel, chaired by the former Prime Minister of Hungary. The Panel was created by the United Nations Development Program and was tasked with investigating claims by a former UNDP employee regarding the UN's activities in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, also known as North Korea. Brian advised the Panel in its investigation and in its preparation of a detailed report to UN and UNDP officials, including the UN Secretary General.

In 2010, Brian assisted the Honorable Alan H. Nevas, retired Senior United States District Court Judge and Special Counsel to Levett Rockwood, PC, with an investigation regarding the fatal explosion of the Kleen Energy natural gas facility in Middletown, Connecticut. The investigation was convened by Governor M. Jodi Rell, who appointed Judge Nevas to chair an investigative panel consisting of multiple Connecticut state agencies.

Brian's background also includes significant experience in private practice, during which he handled numerous civil and criminal jury trials and appeals in both state and federal courts. For example, he successfully attacked a criminal sentence on appeal, as reported in United States v. Barnes, 158 F.3d 662 (2d Cir. 1998). Brian also won a judgment as a matter of law after the close of the evidence in a jury trial on behalf of a private university that was sued for providing negative information about one of its graduates to medical schools to which the graduate had sought admission.

He is a magna cum laude graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the Law Review. After graduation, he served as law clerk for the Honorable Barry Schaller of the Connecticut Appellate Court and for the Honorable Warren W. Eginton of the United States District Court in Connecticut.

Brian has lectured on the subject of white collar investigations at Yale Law School and Quinnipiac University School of Law, and on the subject of Constitutional Law at Fairfield University.

Brian is a member of the American Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Connecticut Bar Foundation. He is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States District Courts for the District of Connecticut and Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Brian lives in Redding, Connecticut with his wife and three children.
